Position Title: Head Coach: Men's Bowling Reports to: Athletic Director and Director of Club Sports Supervises: Students and Assistant Coaches (if applicable) Primary Function: The Head Men's Bowling Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of the Saint Vincent College Men's Bowling program. The coach will provide instruction and mentorship to student-athletes while developing a competitive and positive team culture that reflects the mission and values of Saint Vincent College. Responsibilities include recruiting qualified student-athletes, planning and conducting practices, coordinating competitions and travel, managing program operations, and promoting the academic, personal, and athletic success of student-athletes. Required Qualifications: - Experience coaching and/or competing in bowling at the collegiate, high school, or competitive level.
- Strong knowledge of bowling techniques, strategy, player development, and program management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Ability to recruit and retain qualified student-athletes.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Experience: Previous coaching experience in bowling is preferred. Competitive bowling experience and demonstrated leadership within the sport will also be considered. Essential Duties: Program Leadership - Provide overall leadership and direction for the Saint Vincent College Men's Bowling program.
- Develop and maintain a culture of integrity, sportsmanship, accountability, and respect.
- Represent Saint Vincent College positively within the campus community and throughout collegiate bowling.
Coaching and Player Development - Plan, organize, and conduct practices focused on technical skill development, strategy, conditioning, and competitive preparation.
- Evaluate individual and team performance while providing constructive instruction and feedback.
- Prepare the team for competitions through scouting, lineup decisions, and match strategy.
- Foster the athletic, academic, and personal growth of studentathletes.
Recruiting - Lead all recruiting efforts for the men's bowling program.
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate with prospective studentathletes.
- Coordinate recruiting visits and assist prospective students through the admissions process in collaboration with the Director of Club Sports and Admissions Office.
- Build relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and bowling organizations to strengthen recruiting efforts.
Program Administration - Coordinate competition schedules in collaboration with the Director of Club Sports
- Organize team travel, lodging, meals, and other logistics for competitions.
- Maintain equipment and uniforms while ensuring proper inventory and care.
- Oversee budget planning and responsible management of program resources.
Student-Athlete Support - Monitor the academic progress and eligibility of studentathletes.
- Encourage academic success and personal responsibility.
- Serve as a mentor and role model while promoting leadership, teamwork, and character development.
Compliance and Safety - Ensure compliance with all Saint Vincent College, conference, and national governing body rules and regulations.
- Promote a safe environment during all practices, competitions, travel, and team activities.
- Complete all required institutional training and certifications.
Time Commitment - This position requires a significant commitment throughout the academic year, including practices, competitions, recruiting activities, travel, meetings, and other teamrelated events. Evening and weekend availability is required.
