    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under minimal supervision, the Head Women's Softball Coach directs, provides leadership, and oversees all coaching duties for an interscholastic Women's Softball Program operating under NAIA operating bylaws and regulations. Works in conjunction with all other Athletics personnel towards achieving the objectives of Intercollegiate Athletics. Directs and coordinates all aspects of recruitment and training for athletic competition and oversees the planning and fiscal management of program activities.

    The Head Women's Softball Coach position is full-time, over a twelve-month period, with 50% of the positions related to coaching duties and 50% of position related to faculty, staff, and/or administrative duties.

    TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides for the safety and welfare of team members
    • Complies with all HT, NAIA, and RRAC rules and regulations
    • Plans for all team practices and training sessions to maximize time, effort, safety, and skill
    • Recruits, monitors, and retains outstanding student-athletes who will be academically successful culminating in graduation
    • Commitment to the student-athletes academic progress and degree completion, emphasizes academics and works closely with the faculty to ensure athletes attend classes and are in good scholastic standing
    • Meets with the team and the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to review NAIA regulations and college procedures to ensure all rules and regulations are followed, including the Code of Ethics as outlined in the NAIA handbook
    • Makes necessary arrangements for all away events
    • Makes necessary arrangements for home competitions
    • Formulates the team's competitive schedule in cooperation with the Director of Athletics
    • Works with the Director of Sports Performance to assure the prevention and care of athletic injuries
    • Initiates requests for verification of eligibility of initial and returning student-athletes
    • Responsible for all required record keeping and reports all statistics at end of games
    • Coordinates and monitors statisticians
    • Works with the Public Relations Office to facilitate media coverage and sport promotion
    • Formulates and communicates appropriate team rules for dress, behavior, class attendance, etc.
    • Operates within the established budget
    • Orders, inventories, assigns, and monitors equipment and uniforms
    • Maintains a good relationship with external groups who may want to assist in the program including fundraising activities
    • Shares knowledge and promotes the sport and HT through clinics, workshops, and lectures
    • Directs, instructs, and supervises the activities of all personnel and student-athletes within the sport program
    • Participates as appointed on Intercollegiate Athletics, College, and state, regional and national committees
    • Demonstrates certification in CPR and first aid
    • May serve as game administrator at designated home events
    • Performs other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Athletics
