The Head Coach is responsible for the overall organization, direction, supervision and management of a successful NCAA Division III varsity program. As Head Coach, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategies to enhance the team's success, athlete development, and overall program excellence. Your leadership, coaching expertise, and motivational skills will inspire the coaching staff and students to achieve their full potential while fostering a culture of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Provide strong, visionary leadership to the coaching staff and student athletes.
Attend scouting events, evaluate prospects, identify and attract talented and qualified student-athletes.
Create and implement comprehensive training programs that focus on skill enhancement, physical conditioning, and mental preparedness.
Provide expert guidance and technical instruction in sports fundamentals, techniques, and advanced tactics.
Make real-time decisions during competitions to optimize performance and increase the chances of success.
Maintain open and effective communication channels with students, coaching staff, NEWMAC, college staff, parents, alumni and the media.
Coordinate non- conference games, travel, practice schedules and conditioning schedules.
Manage the team's budget, allocating resources effectively for travel, equipment, and other necessities.
Collaborate with College leadership to seek fundraising opportunities and sponsorships to support the program's financial needs.
Maintain compliance with NCAA, NEWMAC and ensure adherence to all relevant rules, regulations, and ethical standards set forth by governing bodies, leagues, and institutions.
Foster a team culture that values competitive success as well as integrity, diversity, and high academic achievement.
All Student Affairs staff are expected to actively participate in and support major divisional and institutional programs and events, including but not limited to student and staff training, Move-in and Move-out, Orientation, Family & Friends Weekend, Picture Yourself at Emerson, Commencement, the Student Organizations Fair, and other key community-building initiatives.
Serve as Athletic Transportation Coordinator for all department sports teams, coordinating transportation to offsite practices and contests and overseeing maintenance of athletic vehicles housed on campus.

QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
3-5 years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level, professional competitive experience or college playing experience required.
Experience working with students in a team or sports setting preferred.
Previous experience with the college recruitment process preferred.
Possession of current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
A valid driver’s license required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
Demonstrated knowledge of technical skills and tactical strategy and the ability to effectively teach them and communicate with players.
Working knowledge of NCAA and NEWMAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.
The Head Coach must be self-directed, motivated and able to work independently and under pressure.
Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the College community and the ability to influence the athletes to do the same.
