Job Description

Title: Head Cook

Qualifications:

• Effective communication and problem solving skills.

• Regular and predictable attendance
• Qualified to be employed as a Cook per Civil Service and NYS Education Department guidelines.
• Good knowledge of the methods of preparing and baking food in large quantities
• Good knowledge of modern cooking utensils, appliances, and equipment
• Ability to follow and modify recipes and to make simple arithmetic calculations
• Ability to supervise the work of others
• Ability to sit, stand, bend and kneel for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and maneuver general kitchen equipment, materials and other objects as needed.

Responsibilities Shall include but are not limited to the following:

• Attend meetings as needed
• Follow directives (written, oral, electronic)
• Regular use of school email
• General Cook assignments
• Prepares and cooks a variety of food
• Bakes cakes, pies, rolls, and a variety of other pastries
• Cuts, cleans and dresses meat, fish, and poultry
• Supervises the proper storage of food
• Supervises the work of Food Service Helpers in the preparation of food and the cleaning of tables, kitchen utensils, stoves, and equipment
• Keeps simple related records
• Prepares production schedules
• Does quality assurance monitoring
• Other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the supervisors.
• Maintain Data Security as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality with staff, students, and family information.
• Operate in a respectful, responsible manner

Reports to: Director of Food Services

Salary: Minimum starting salary $16.98 (negotiable based on experience) as per the Civil Service Employees Association agreement. Contracts can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
