FINNEYTOWN LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT HEAD GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL COACH Position: Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach School: Finneytown High School Season: 2026-2027 Winter Season Reports To: District Athletic Director POSITION OVERVIEW Finneytown High School is seeking a dynamic, committed, and student-centered leader to serve as our Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. This position will provide leadership and oversight for the entire Finneytown girls basketball program, including Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School teams. We are looking for a coach who understands that building a successful basketball program goes beyond wins and losses. The successful candidate will establish a positive culture centered on relationships, accountability, academics, player development, competitiveness, and Wildcat Pride. The Head Coach will be responsible for creating a consistent vision, philosophy, and developmental system throughout the girls basketball program, ensuring alignment from middle school through varsity. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach will:

• Provide leadership and direction for the entire Finneytown girls basketball program, including Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School teams.
• Recruit, select, develop, supervise, and evaluate coaches throughout the girls basketball program.
• Establish a consistent basketball philosophy, terminology, expectations, and player- development system across all levels.
• Work collaboratively with JV and Middle School coaches to ensure continuity and alignment throughout the program.
• Establish and maintain a positive, competitive, and student-centered program culture.
• Develop student-athletes fundamentally, physically, academically, and personally.
• Create a clear developmental pathway for student-athletes from the Middle School level through Varsity competition.
• Establish clear expectations for student-athletes regarding attendance, academics, behavior, sportsmanship, and commitment.
• Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, school administration, athletic training staff, and other coaches.
• Maintain regular and professional communication with student-athletes, families, and coaching staff.
• Develop effective practice plans, game strategies, scouting procedures, and player- development systems.
• Coordinate appropriate offseason opportunities, camps, open gyms, strength and conditioning, and skill development throughout the program.
• Actively promote girls' basketball throughout the Finneytown community.
• Develop relationships with Finneytown youth basketball programs to increase participation and create a sustainable pipeline of programs.
• Support student-athletes interested in pursuing basketball opportunities beyond high school.
• Ensure that all coaches and teams within the girls basketball program comply with Finneytown Local School District, Cincinnati Hills League, and OHSAA policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, sportsmanship, and leadership at all times. PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS The next Head Coach will be expected to build a unified girls basketball program that represents Finneytown with pride both on and off the court. Our expectation is to develop a program where student-athletes at the Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels:

• Understand the importance of being a great teammate.
• Represent Finneytown positively in school and in the community.
• Develop confidence, leadership, discipline, and resilience.
• Progress through a consistent developmental system.
• Take pride in being a Finneytown Wildcat. The Head Coach will work closely with the Athletic Department to establish measurable goals for academic performance, participation, retention, player development, program alignment, and competitive growth throughout all levels of the girls basketball program. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ideal candidates should possess:
• Previous basketball coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
• Previous head coaching, varsity assistant, or significant program leadership experience preferred.
• Experience supervising or coordinating multiple levels of a basketball program preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, player development, and program organization.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively lead and develop assistant, JV, and Middle School coaches.
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents, administrators, coaches, and community members.
• Commitment to academic achievement and the overall development of student-athletes.
• Ability to build and maintain a positive program culture.
• Commitment to developing the entire girls basketball program from youth and Middle School through Varsity.
• All certifications and requirements necessary to coach interscholastic athletics in the State of Ohio. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Finneytown is looking for more than someone to coach the Varsity basketball team. We are looking for someone to lead and build our entire girls basketball program. We want a leader who can create excitement around girls basketball, develop relationships with our student-athletes, increase participation, mentor and support coaches, establish high expectations, and create a consistent program identity from Middle School through Varsity.
