Position Announcement: Head Men's Basketball Coach
Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Head Men's Basketball Coach. The Head Men's Basketball Coach is responsible for all aspects of the Northeastern Men's Basketball program. Men's Basketball is one of 11 NJCAA Division 1 sports at the college, competing in NJCAA Region 9. The college focus is on the student athlete, so the coach ensures students are academically successful while growing and competing as athletes. This includes teaching and mentoring athletes as part of game preparation and competing at the intercollegiate level. The Head Men's Basketball coach reports to the Athletic Director and coordinates activities with the Event Center Coordinator and other coaches, as well as counselors and faculty.

What your Key Responsibilities Will Be:
- Recruit eligible student athletes to fill the allowed roster and follow NJCAA procedures for letter of intent, medical fitness, and eligibility, and maintain eligibility records with the records office.
- Retain athlete eligibility through academic monitoring and holding standards of behavior in accordance with the Student Athlete Handbook.
- Lead the development and growth of the athletes to include understanding game strategies, scout plans, team concepts and the skills and techniques required for successful participation.
- Instruct student-athletes in proper weight training techniques for their particular sport.
- Instruct proper safety techniques to the student-athlete and oversee the game and practice facilities are safe and set up properly.
- Create seasonal schedules, including planned travel.
- Conduct and support fundraising to supplement operating budgets and scholarship budgets
- Includes department wide fundraising as assigned by the Athletic Director
- Monitor and adhere to budgets provided for Men's Basketball
- Execute travel to include securing approvals, driving athletic buses, arranging for accommodations, purchasing food, and timely notification of faculty for planned travel absences.
- Promote the sport within the community by being actively involved and visible in community events.
- Secure Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and be fully trained to drive all needed vehicles. Serve as the driver of college vehicles needed for all travel to and from games and as needed for other events. Report any problems with vehicles to the facilities department. Do all pre and post trip checks in conjunction with driving the bus under CDL proper procedure. Note: The college may provide the applicable CDL training.

- Passion for student athletes
What We Require:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Three years of basketball coaching experience
- Team coaching experience
- Eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver's License in the State of Colorado
This is a 234-day position. Salary range of $36,000-$41,000 commensurate with education and experience. After securing a Commercial Driver's License, the base salary is increased $1,500.
