Job Description
The head coach will direct all facets of a competitive NAIA Basketball program with a special emphasis on recruitment of students whose educational, athletic, and personal aims are imminently congruent with the University mission. Each coach is responsible but is not limited to practice and game preparation; budgeting; academic support; supervision of assistant and graduate assistant coaches and insuring the general welfare and the development of the student-athlete. Responsibilities include establishing a first-year NAIA basketball program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in physical education, kinesiology, education, related field.
Minimum three (3) years coaching experience at the NAIA, JC or NCAA level.
Knowledge of NAIA, NCAA rules and regulations
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and work independently.
Effective communication and discipline skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills
Effective organizational and time management skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, management, athletes, and other stakeholders.
Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels, standing throughout the day, the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.
