    Job Summary

    The Head Men's Tennis Coach provides management of the Men's Tennis program. This role is responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes, on-court coaching, serves as community relations liaison for the Men's Tennis program to public, and monitor academic progress of student-athletes.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to NCAA and conference rules.
    • Monitors the compliance to NCAA and conference rules and policies by assistant coaches.
    • Recruits and selects quality student-athletes.
    • Monitors the satisfactory academic progress of student-athletes and arranges for necessary academic counseling through the Athletics Academic Counselor.
    • Establishes eligibility of freshmen and transferring student-athletes and assures continued eligibility of returning student-athletes.
    • Conducts all practice sessions.
    • Recommends grants of financial aid with the approval of the Athletics Director and the University Scholarships, Loans, Awards Committee, and Director of Financial Aid.
    • Sets training rules for student-athletes and inform them about acceptable standards of conduct.
    • Supervision of sport budget and limit expenditures to the amounts officially approved by the University.
    • Recommends game schedules and equipment purchases that will allow men's tennis to stay within its approved budget.
    • Recommends letter awards to the Athletics Director in accordance with approved lettering standards.
    • Works with the Athletics Director in matters of public relations and promotions.
    • Engages in fundraising activities for the Athletics Department.
    • Interviews and recommends to the Athletics Director regarding the hiring of assistant coaches.
    • Completion and timely submission of NCAA Squad List, Conference Eligibility List, and Conference Participation List.
    • Has the responsibility for execution of an effective system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
    • Represents UTSA at American Athletic Conference and national meetings.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
    • Three (3) years of related work experience.
    • This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

    Working Conditions

    • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.

    Physical Demands

    • Physical activity in the sport of Men's Tennis.

    This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

    This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
