Head of Accounting

Location: Greenwich, CT

Job Type: On-Site, 5 days/week

Salary: $200,000-225,000/year + Bonus

Client/Job Summary:

Our client is a leading commodity trading company. They are seeking a Head of Technical Accounting to lead the reporting function and oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of financial and operational data. This person will be crucial in providing strategic insights, reporting, and guidance on statutory reporting matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS including footnotes, MD&A, regulatory compliance, supporting documentation, etc.
  • Drive the annual budget process, support forecasting activities, build reporting frameworks and dashboards to monitor KPIs and operational performance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external audits. Ensure readiness for statutory reviews and implement improvements based on audit feedback. Stay current on regulatory and accounting developments.
  • Manage a small team, foster professional development, and collaborate cross-functionally to align financial reporting with strategic goals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance. MBA preferred.
  • CPA and/or Chartered Accountant required.
  • 10+ years of accounting/audit experience, 5+ years managing global team.
  • Experience in commodity trading industry preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and technical accounting and regulatory rules.
  • Strong financial planning and analysis including forecasting and cash flow.
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity.
  • Communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
