About the Opportunity
Our client is a venture-backed insurance technology company experiencing significant growth is seeking its first dedicated finance leader. Following a recent capital raise, the organization is entering an exciting phase of expansion and is looking for a hands-on finance professional to build and scale the finance function.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the executive team, establish key financial processes and infrastructure, and help position the company for future growth and additional fundraising initiatives. The position is designed with long-term leadership progression in mind, including the potential to grow into a CFO-level role.
Position Overview
The Head of Finance will serve as the company's lead finance and accounting professional, overseeing financial reporting, planning and analysis, accounting operations, systems implementation, and strategic financial initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, thrives in entrepreneurial environments, and enjoys building scalable processes in high-growth organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Lead all accounting and finance activities, including financial reporting and month-end close.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage relationships with external accounting, tax, audit, and advisory partners.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable standards.
Strategic Finance & Planning
- Build budgets, forecasts, cash flow models, and long-term financial plans.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Support fundraising initiatives, investor reporting, and strategic planning.
- Develop key performance indicators and management reporting frameworks.
Systems & Process Development
- Build the financial infrastructure needed to support a scaling organization.
- Assist in the implementation and optimization of financial systems and reporting tools.
- Establish scalable processes that support future growth and expansion.
Business Partnership
- Collaborate with leadership on operational and strategic initiatives.
- Support hiring plans, organizational growth, and business planning efforts.
- Help build and develop the future finance function as the company grows.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or advisory experience.
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial technology platforms.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Ability to operate independently and build processes from the ground up.
Preferred
- CPA or public accounting background.
- Experience in technology, SaaS, financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
- Exposure to high-growth, startup, or venture-backed environments.
- Experience implementing financial systems and supporting fundraising activities.
- Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and leadership.
