This role offers a unique opportunity to lead hands-on technology initiatives at Schwab Asset Management, building scalable, cloud-enabled platforms that directly power trade analytics and execution. You'll work with modern architecture across on-premises and cloud environments, driving the evolution of a next-generation trading platform across AI-enabled digital advice and discretionary order management. The position combines deep technical leadership with close partnership with sophisticated business teams, giving you direct impact on strategic and regulatory outcomes. It's an ideal role for someone who wants to shape platform strategy, advance data engineering capabilities, and deliver meaningful results in a high-impact, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and modernization of order management and trade execution platforms, ensuring scalable, compliant, and cloud-native solutions aligned with business strategy.
  • Define and execute technology strategy across the trading domain, driving innovation, platform optimization, and alignment with regulatory and client experience goals.
  • Partner closely with business, engineering, and product teams to define trading architecture for an AI-enabled Digital Advice platform, shape solution designs, and deliver outcomes through agile and co-development models.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team while managing vendor relationships, strengthening DevOps and production models, and continuously improving engineering processes and collaboration.

What you have

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise end to end best-ex, directed and trade-away trading workflows
  • 5+ years of experience with trading order management systems (OMS), such as BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River, or a similar platform.
  • Experience with execution management systems (EMS), such as Virtu Valor or similar platforms
  • 5+ years people leadership experience.
  • Cloud modernization experience; GCP experience is preferred.
  • Strategic experience setting the vision for application support to drive operational efficiency and minimize disruption.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading leaders, with oversight of 20+ people on delivery teams.
  • Experience with AI agentic frameworks.
  • Experience directing strategic frameworks to operationalize data pipelines and storage systems.
  • Experience leading strategic incident response initiatives and guiding governance practices.
  • Experience guiding the overall strategy for quality assurance testing standards across the organization.
  • Experience formulating requirements management strategy for an organization.
  • Experience leading strategic governance for enterprise-wide security management.
  • Software design expertise with the ability to influence policies and frameworks that improve efficiency and guide adaptive design.
  • Experience influencing software development strategy through policies and frameworks that drive efficiency and reliability.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
