Head/Senior Designer- High End Residential Construction

HEAD OF DESIGN / SENIOR DESIGNER – HIGH-END RESIDENTIAL

A growing high-end residential construction organization is seeking an experienced Head of Design / Senior Designer to lead and execute exceptional residential design while driving projects from concept through construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead high-end residential design from client discovery through final walkthrough
• Create renderings, material palettes, selections and detailed construction documentation
• Guide homeowners through the design process and drive confident, timely decisions
• Ensure designs remain buildable, on budget and on schedule
• Manage multiple custom home and major renovation projects simultaneously
• Coordinate with PMs, architects and trades on cabinetry, millwork, finish carpentry and installation details
• Track selections, pricing, lead times, revisions and change orders
• Maintain accurate design documentation and project information
• Visit jobsites to verify design intent and resolve field-related design issues
• Develop and improve design standards, processes and documentation
• For leadership-level candidates: mentor designers, manage workloads and help strengthen the overall design department

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of high-end residential design, custom home or major renovation experience
• Advanced Chief Architect proficiency
• BuilderTrend or comparable construction management software experience
• Strong understanding of cabinetry, millwork, finishes and residential construction
• Proven success delivering projects on budget and on schedule
• Strong homeowner-facing communication and presentation skills
• Experience guiding discerning/high-end clientele through complex decisions
• Portfolio showing high-end residential work, renderings AND technical/construction documentation
• Highly organized, accountable and comfortable working closely with construction teams
• Leadership or mentoring experience strongly preferred for Head of Design consideration
