General Description: The Facilities Specialistprovides custodial and minor maintenance for the agency, classrooms, offices, common areas, utilities, equipment, fixtures, and materials for the facility and grounds. Follow health and safety procedures and perform safety inspections and checklists to ensure the facility and grounds are hazard-free.
Essential Job Responsibilities and Performance Indicators:
- Daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs and maintenance. (If appropriate)
- Seasonal deep cleaning and maintenance of building interior and exterior (i.e., Floor waxing, carpet cleaning, pressure washing the building).
- Ensure that safety and health procedures are followed as directed by the Facilities Manager and established policy.
- Perform routine inspections and regular upkeep of interior and exterior areas to ensure areas are free of safety hazards, trash, weeds, and other foreign materials.
- Perform regular upkeep of outside areas, including lawns, landscaped beds, playgrounds, and parking lots, to include weeding, trash, and litter removal required to keep areas clean, neat, and safe.
- Assist with moving office and classroom furniture, fixtures, and equipment to support increased staffing changes, relocations, remodels, program expansion, and custodial requirements.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, moving, transporting, and installation of playground structures. (If appropriate)
- Ensure agency machinery and equipment are maintained and stored in a secure location.
- Ensure adequate supplies are kept at the center site for janitorial use.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred and one year of custodial or related work experience.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "P" and "S" endorsements (preferred); training provided.
- Must pass Criminal Background Checks
- Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively and appropriately with others.
- Must be able to operate and maintain equipment (i.e., lawnmowers, weed eaters, pressure washers, etc.).
- Possess minor carpentry skills or the necessary skills to complete tasks.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Perform a physical inventory of equipment and/or janitorial supplies.
- Lift and move heavy and/or bulky objects weighing 75lbs and over.
- Ability to work outdoors intermittently with exposure to cold and hot weather.
- Must be able to use various chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Performs physical maintenance duties, which require a broom, mop, vacuum, buffer/stripper, etc.
- Ability to drive a private or agency vehicle.
