Job Title: Head Start Family Service Worker

Primary Purpose:
To support families as they identify and meet goals and to facilitate trusting, collaborative relationships between parents and staff.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field from an accredited college or university, Master's preferred
Valid Texas social worker's license (LBSW, LMSW, or the equivalent)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of and access to community resources
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Effective presentation skills
Ability to work with all educational levels of parents and staff
Ability to compile, maintain, and manage multiple forms of data, records, and reports
Experience:
Three or more years of experience in social work preferred - may be waived based on internship, work in a related human services field, etc.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise persons completing practicum or internship through a college or university program.
Equipment Used:
Copier, personal computer, laptop, printer, shredder.

Maintain emotional control under stressful situations
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours
Some districtwide travel (home visits/other campuses)
Occasional walking, running, and climbing
