Head Start Lead Teacher

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Care and education of a group of children as a part of a teaching team.

Plan and implement the curriculum in accordance with Merrillville Community School Corporation and Indiana Department of Education standards.

Utilize Developmentally Appropriate Effective Practices as defined by the National Association of Young Children (NAEYC) and preparedness of school readiness.

Be an active participant with the children, families and other members of the teaching team.

Present a positive and professional image.

Effectively participate on committees and work teams as requested.

Ensure solid implementation of the educational program.

Respond to routine inquiries or complaints.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Associate's Degree in Early Childhood/Development is required.

Three years of classroom experience with preschoolers in a licensed child care center based program, Head Start program, or public schools preferred.

Spanish speaking preferred.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical/medical/legal information.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
