Position Summary

The Head Stocker is responsible for supporting efficient store operations by overseeing product stocking, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring shelves are properly merchandised, and leading stock crew activities. This position helps drive sales by keeping products available, organized, and presented according to company standards while providing excellent customer service and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities Stocking & Merchandising

  • Stock shelves, end caps, displays, and promotional locations with merchandise.
  • Ensure products are rotated according to freshness and date code standards.
  • Maintain shelf conditions, proper product facings, and accurate pricing.
  • Verify that merchandise is displayed according to company merchandising plans.
  • Identify and correct out-of-stock conditions.
  • Assist with seasonal and promotional merchandising changes.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries.
  • Ensure backroom organization and product accessibility.
  • Help maintain inventory accuracy through proper stocking and handling procedures.
  • Support periodic inventory counts and audits.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide direction and support to stock clerks and stocking teams.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor completion of workload expectations.
  • Assist with training associates on stocking procedures, safety standards, and productivity expectations.
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Communicate operational concerns and opportunities to store management.

Customer Service

  • Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Help customers locate products and answer questions.
  • Resolve customer concerns or refer issues to management when necessary.
  • Support the store''s commitment to exceptional customer service.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely and according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain clean, organized aisles, sales floors, and stock areas.
  • Immediately report safety hazards, damaged equipment, or incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements where applicable.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous retail, grocery, warehouse, or stocking experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math and inventory management skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull, and move stock carts, pallets, and merchandise.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions, including refrigerated and freezer environments when required.
