    Job Description:

    The position supports 12 Varsity athletics teams in strength and conditioning. Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in anatomy and physiology, exercise science, fundamental and Olympic-style weight-lifting exercises, and sport-specific speed, agility and quickness training. The position should also possess a passion for women's athletics. Able to instruct, to communicate technique refinement through various teaching methods, and to demand a higher level of performance through positive feedback and cues.

This full-time, exempt position has an anticipated schedule of 35 hours per week, year-round (1,820 hours annualized).

    Position Responsibilities:

    The head strength and conditioning coach plans and executes strength and conditioning programming of our Varsity athletics teams. The position is required to teach exercise form and technique on all main strength and power lifts and on all accessory work, to coach athletes to spot and assist with relevant form cues, and to teach running and SAQ form. The position is also responsible for the overall safety of the weight room facility.

    The position is expected to do the following:

    • Manage strength and conditioning programming through the program Teambuildr for competitive and off-season segments of an athletic season.

    • Work collaboratively with athletic training to develop programming that challenges student athletes while mitigating injuries.

    • Meet regularly with head coaches and athletic trainers.

    • Develop strength and conditioning strategic plan including long- and short-term goals for athletes and Varsity athletic teams.

    • Provide direct reports for the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

    Fitness Center Director:

    • Oversees and directs the operations, maintenance and upkeep of the fitness center.

    • Recruit, train, and supervise the student workers for the fitness center.

    • Work with Associate AD and Conferences and Events to manage summer programming. Has day-to-day direction and oversight of entire facility during summer months.

    • Develop and coordinate Fit Club programming. Hire fit club instructors. Manage and schedule fit club classes.

    • Provide orientations for faculty, staff, students to fitness center.

    • Oversee facility membership. Expected to have over $7,000 in membership revenue.

    • Maintain facility calendar and webpage.

    • Develop and maintain policies of the fitness center.

    • Provides budget management and oversight for the fitness center operating annual budget.

    • Coordinate reunion activities and oversight with Alumnae/i Relations and Development.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred.

    • Certification in Strength and Conditioning or Personal Training is required.

    • The NCSA or USA weightlifting certifications are preferred.

    • Knowledge of Olympic lifts is required.

    • Additional instructor certifications (Yoga, Spinning, Kettlebells, TRX, etc.) are welcome.

    • Additional classes or duties may be assigned based upon experience and skill set.

    • Adult CPR/AED certification is required.

    • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.

    • Some lifting, carrying equipment, and walking are required.

    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

    • Ability to work outside of a variety of weather conditions.
