    About the Opportunity

    The Head Swimming Coach instructs and trains student athletes in the fundamentals of swimming and provides guidance regarding student athlete academic success. The Head Coach also recruits and works to retain student athletes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Instruct, teach and train student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of swimming and teamwork.

    • Develop, communicate and execute game and practice plans for the team and for individual athletes; monitor playing and practice activities and scheduling of contests.

    • Guide and instruct athletes of health, nutrition, wellness, team concepts and safety.

    • Respond to and address academic concerns with student athletes; monitor academic policies and requirements, academic progress, full time enrollment and graduation rates.

    • Coordinate with other academic support and compliance units for student athlete academic success.

    • Recruit prospective student athletes to maintain optimal roster size.

    • Enhance student athlete retention by establishing mentoring relationships and providing a positive, productive athletic and academic experience.

    • Hire, train and supervise assistant swim coaches.

    • Responsible for maintaining inventory of athletic equipment and the management of the athletics equipment storage spaces.

    • Work collaboratively with different departments across campus.

    • Represent Cedar Crest College athletics as the highest standards of conduct, attitude, confidentiality, and appearance are expected in all aspects of performance.

    • Helps with Game Day management with other sports programs

    • Ability to self-manage and bring projects to completion.

    • Other duties as assigned by Athletics.

    What We're Looking For

    • Bachelor's degree in applicable field required.

    • Minimum of two (2) years' experience coaching, collegiate level coaching preferred.

    • Solid knowledge of NCAA Division III compliance rules and regulations.

    • Demonstrated effective leadership and coaching skills.

    • Strong customer focus with exceptional interpersonal skills.

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

    • Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid required.

    • Valid driver's license and completion of College driver safety program.

    • Knowledge of Meet manager/Team Manger/Colorado 6 Scoring system.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    • Visual and hearing ability to perform all required duties related to the position with or without reasonable accommodation

    • Able to independently travel and transport team and equipment to other locations for contests and other activities.

    • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate technology and office equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.

    • Able to stand/sit continually to perform essential job functions for the entire workday, including ability to effectively instruct and train student athletes

    • Able to work varied hours and a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary and required.

    Complexity

    Able to balance time effectively and efficiently between team and student-athletes needing assistance. Must also work autonomously toward department priorities with the safety of student athletes as a priority.
