    • Head Track & Field Coach

    Missouri Valley College seeks an energetic, visionary, and student-centered Head Track & Field Coach to provide leadership for the College's men's and women's track & field programs. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of program administration, including recruiting, roster management, coaching, player development, academic success, budgeting, scheduling, fundraising, alumni engagement, and compliance with institutional, conference, and NAIA regulations.

    The successful candidate will foster a culture of competitive excellence, integrity, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and personal development while supporting the mission and values of Missouri Valley College.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Program Leadership

    • Provide strategic leadership and long-term vision for the men's and women's track & field programs.
    • Develop a competitive program capable of contending for conference championships and national qualification.
    • Establish a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture.
    • Promote sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, and character development among student-athletes.
    • Develop annual goals and measurable objectives for team and individual success.
    • Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff

    Coaching Responsibilities

    • Plan, organize, and conduct all phases of the program to include but not limited to practices and conditioning sessions.
    • Develop individualized training plans for distance, middle-distance, sprint, hurdle, jump, throw, and multis athletes.
    • Coach during all practices and competitions.
    • Evaluate athlete performance using data, video analysis, and performance metrics.
    • Coordinate strength and conditioning programs in collaboration with athletic performance staff.
    • Work closely with athletic training personnel regarding injury prevention and rehabilitation.

    Recruiting

    • Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes who align with Missouri Valley College's academic and athletic standards.
    • Develop and maintain recruiting territories and pipelines throughout Missouri and nationally.
    • Conduct campus visits, recruiting communications, evaluations, and scholarship recommendations.
    • Build strong relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and community college programs.
    • Utilize recruiting software and databases effectively.

    Student-Athlete Development

    • Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth
    • Monitor academic progress and encourage timely degree completion.
    • Support student-athlete retention, leadership development, and overall well-being.
    • Work collaboratively with academic support services.
    • Promote life skills, career readiness, and community involvement.

    Compliance

    • Ensure full compliance with:

    • NAIA rules and regulations

    • Heart of America Athletic Conference policies

    • Missouri Valley College policies

    • Title IX requirements

    • Institutional eligibility standards

    • Maintain required documentation and certifications.

    • Participate in compliance education and reporting.

    Program Administration

    • Prepare and manage annual operating budgets.
    • Coordinate team travel, lodging, meals, and transportation.
    • Schedule competitions in collaboration with the Director of Athletics.
    • Manage equipment purchasing, inventory, and maintenance.
    • Coordinate facility usage and practice schedules.
    • Supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants, volunteer coaches, and student workers.

    Fundraising and Community Engagement

    • Assist with athletic department fundraising initiatives.
    • Develop relationships with alumni, donors, and community supporters.
    • Participate in admissions and enrollment events.
    • Conduct youth camps and clinics.
    • Represent Missouri Valley College at community functions and professional organizations.

    Administrative Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate statistical records.
    • Complete required reports and evaluations.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development.
    • Assist with game management and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.
    • Support the overall mission and strategic goals of the athletics department.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
    • Previous collegiate coaching and/or recruiting experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of training methodologies.
    • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Ability to recruit and retain high-quality student-athletes.
    • Working knowledge of NAIA rules and eligibility standards.
    • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
    • Ability to travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree.
    • Head coaching experience at the collegiate level.
    • Experience coaching multiple event disciplines.
    • Successful history of recruiting and retaining student-athletes.
    • Experience managing operating budgets.
    • Demonstrated fundraising and alumni engagement success.
    • Experience using recruiting software, performance analytics, and meet management systems.

    • Ability to travel frequently by automobile and commercial transportation.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    Working Conditions

    • Evening and weekend work is required.
    • Extensive seasonal travel.
    • Indoor and outdoor coaching environments.
    • Occasional overnight travel.
    • Fast-paced athletic environment requiring flexibility and adaptability.
