Position Details

Job Summary: U of D Jesuit High School and Academy has immediate availability for a Varsity Head Wrestling Coach for its athletic program. The ideal candidate will be well-connected in the youth wrestling environment and an energetic program builder who can effectively attract new student-athletes to our school and grow the participation level within the wrestling programs.

Reports to: Athletic Director, University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategies, and fundamentals.
  • College degree in the field of education and/or counseling with teaching certificate strongly preferred.
  • Previous head coaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and supervise practice sessions, off-season workouts, and other activities that pertain to a complete wrestling program as directed by the Athletic Department.
  • Support the school's Athletic Shared Vision, particularly as it pertains to: Athletic Code, Formation, Academic focus, and Athletic development
  • Provide locker room
  • Recommend assistant coaches to be hired within the guidelines as defined by U of D Jesuit High School & Academy.
  • Attend all mandated U of D Jesuit/League/MHSAA meetings and training
  • Be responsible for inventory, distribution, and collection of uniforms and

Expectations:

  • Work well and build relationships with students, faculty, media, staff, and
  • Support the U of D Jesuit Athletic Department's student-athlete development
  • Cooperate and work with the Athletic Director and High School Principal on matters involving the wrestling program
  • Maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with student/athletes, parents, etc.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to adhere to policies provided by U of D Jesuit, the Archdiocese of Detroit, and the
  • Attend/participate in required abuse risk management training as directed by U of D Jesuit High School &
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising

Physical Working Conditions:

Job requires repetitive lifting of light weight objects with frequent bending and stooping, or repetitively lift average weight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds).

Working Environment:

Regular exposure to unfavorable conditions such as weather conditions, or confined, noisy, or dirty locations.
