Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel has an immediate opening for an experienced Header Welder in Sapulpa. This is a high-level welding position working on box headers and critical fabricated components in a production environment.
The ideal candidate has strong multi-process welding experience, can confidently read blueprints and welding specifications, and is capable of producing welds that meet demanding code and quality requirements. Candidates must successfully complete weld testing that includes radiographic and bend inspection.
Required Experience & Skills
Strong multi-process welding experience required
Experience with MIG, Flux Core, TIG, and Stick welding
Ability to successfully complete required 2G weld tests
Ability to produce welds capable of passing radiographic inspection
Strong blueprint and welding specification reading skills
Experience working with fabricated headers or similar industrial components preferred
Strong understanding of weld quality and code requirements
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Strong commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform welding on box headers and related fabricated components
Utilize MIG, TIG, Flux Core, and Stick welding processes as required
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and welding specifications
Prepare and position materials for welding operations
Perform welds according to required procedures and quality standards
Work with various materials and welding processes based on production requirements
Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and visible defects
Identify and correct welding issues or defects as required
Ensure completed work meets applicable code and quality requirements
Safely operate welding machines, grinders, and related fabrication equipment
Maintain consistent productivity while meeting production schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all company welding, quality, and safety procedures
Perform additional header welding and fabrication duties as assigned
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete the following:
2G MIG & Flux Core Test
2G welding position
MIG and Flux Core processes
Radiographic inspection
Bend testing
2G Stick Test
2G Stick welding
¾-inch plate
Radiographic inspection
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality welds capable of meeting the required inspection standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous header welding experience
Box header fabrication experience
Experience producing X-ray quality welds
Advanced MIG and Flux Core welding experience
TIG welding experience
Strong Stick welding experience
Heavy industrial or code-quality fabrication experience
Advanced blueprint and weld symbol interpretation skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and working in multiple welding positions
Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around heavy steel, welding equipment, grinders, heat, sparks, and fumes
Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work throughout an extended night shift
Work Environment
High-level industrial welding and fabrication environment
Hands-on production of box headers and critical fabricated components
Regular use of MIG, TIG, Flux Core, and Stick welding equipment
Quality-intensive environment requiring welds to meet radiographic, bend, and applicable code requirements
