Join our team at the Bureau for Family Assistance in the Division of Early Care and Education to help provide safe, quality family and childcare services while receiving on-the-job training, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities. The Family Child Care Regulation Manager will provide advanced professional oversight of statewide family child care regulatory systems and policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Departmental policies and procedures, in addition to industry standards and best practices. This role will include leadership and development of statewide teams of Family Child Care Regulatory Specialists, promoting collaboration and communication to ensure timeliness and accuracy of task completion. Some travel will be required on an as-needed basis, including to support staff, participate in meetings, and attend conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Under general direction, the Family Child Care Regulation Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting a team of Family Child Care Regulatory Specialists located across the state, including personnel management duties such as timekeeping and performance management.

  • Ensuring staff compliance and enforcement of child care health and safety requirements in state and federal codes, as well as adherence to established policies and procedures related to provider inspections, unannounced visits, and complaint investigations.

  • Overseeing processes related to family child care regulation, including formulation, development, and oversight of policies, procedures, and legislative rules based on early care and education industry standards, best practices, theory, and principles.

  • Identifying, analyzing, and implementing strategic plans for family child care regulatory systems.

  • Serving as a liaison for informal legislation, including developing and delivering presentations, answering questions, and coordinating responses.

  • Interpreting code, rules, and policies to provide advanced technical assistance to child care providers and guidance to internal team members.

  • Traveling as needed to represent the division and agency at events such as conferences or meetings, including presentations and speaking engagements.

  • Analyzing and compiling regulatory data for reporting purposes, ensuring verifiable, accurate, and consistent documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Masters degree from an accredited college or university in the area of assignment.

Substitution: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the Masters degree.

Experience: Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a program administration capacity.

Substitution: Post-graduate training in the area of assignment may substitute through an established formula for the non-supervisory experience.

Other Information

BFA only - One year of experience as a supervisor in Economic Services may substitute for the 1 year of program administration experience.
