Job Title

Health Benefits Assistant

Duties

Serve as technical expert providing enrollment and eligibility guidance to service and facility leadership.

Responsible for entering demographic, insurance, and income information into the Veterans Enrollment System (VES) for maintaining critical contact and reimbursement processes.

Provides administrative support and collaborates with inpatient staffing personnel such as Physicians, Physician's Assistants, Nurses, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Dietitians, Social Workers, and other administrative and professional staff throughout CAVHS area transitioning patients identified as ineligible for VA patient care.

Skill in interpreting computer generated reports and understanding data processing capabilities is essential.

Must be proficient in utilizing other eligibility software such as Veterans Information System (VIS), Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS), Veterans Enrollment System (VES), Individual Longitudinal Exposure Record (ILER) and Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) to appropriately enroll eligible beneficiaries for health care benefits.

Provides input during team meetings; performs administrative follow-up actions; sharing information and collaborating with the medical team to ensure continuity of care.

Supports the management information components of all health eligibility related programs within the HCS.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
