Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED
Degree: General
License/Certification Required: None
Minimum Work Experience: 2-3 years working with Health Information Management preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proficient in the use of computers with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
Ability to maneuver through several computer programs
Ability to prioritize work.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to interact with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews and validates all requests for protected health information (PHI).
Processes valid requests within 30 days of receipt as per Federal guidelines and provides records in the format requested.
Able to locate PHI efficiently in the appropriate storage medium (Example: Hospital Electronic Medical Record or vendor software/storage).
Accurately and timely logs and updates all ROI requests in the hospital ROI software.
Escalates any attorney's request for ROI that may involve Children's Hospital.
Fulfills requests for subpoenaed records and assures delivery to the court system within 5 business days of receipt.
Maintains a spreadsheet for clinic record ROI requests and coordinates delivery and pick up of records with offsite storage vendor.
Responsible for monitoring backlog of ROI and informing management team when the time-to-fill approaches 3 weeks.
Completes auditor requests (e.g. Blue Cross Blue Shield) for medical records within required timeframes.
Properly labels ROI paperwork and submits it for scanning at the end of each shift.

Processes Patient Financial Services requests for medical records within 3-5 business days.
Assists co-workers and other departments as needed in a courteous and professional manner.
Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably.

Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-20 pounds frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure for lifting or moving of up to 100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
