The Catholic Health (CH) Health Information Management (HIM) Educator/Auditor is responsible for providing Provider Coding education, including but not limited to, ICD-10 CM diagnosis selection and sequencing and appropriate E & M level selection, to the Enterprise. This position works cooperatively with physicians and mid-level providers, Physician Enterprise leadership, provider billing leadership and others to ensure that CHS/Trinity-employed providers appropriate code the medical services that are provided. The Educator/Auditor will introduce new providers to the coding program requirements across CHS/Trinity and provide any needed training. Additionally, new providers will be audited at 100% until (s)he attains an 85% accuracy rate. Once that accuracy is achieved, the provider will move to the standard auditing program provided. This position will also partner with provider billing services and Revenue Integrity annually to create, disseminate and provide education on new ICD-10 CM diagnosis codes as well as CPT-4 procedure code updates. This position will also offer support for various coding-related initiatives as needed.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
CPC, CPC-P, RHIT, or CCS is required
CEMC is preferred
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of coding experience utilizing electronic encoders/references, and compliance software, is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Evidence of coding competency
Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, Evaluation and Management (E/M), anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
Partner within own team as well as across other teams. Demonstrated ability to work closely with CH associates, medical staff, , department managers, and Finance
Superior written and interpersonal communication skills
Proven track record to develop/maintain policies and procedures

Visual acuity for oversight of computer encoders, groupers, on-line references, Electronic Health Record

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Travels frequently to multiple sites to work with Clinic Manager, Physicians and other Educator/Auditors
NYS driver's license and transportation is required
Occasional change in work schedule to accommodate project implementation, auditing, meetings, or other departmental concerns
