Position Overview

CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to maintain medical records and health information systems at a federal correctional institution in Oxford, Wisconsin. FCI Oxford is a medium-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp in rural central Wisconsin. You will manage inmate health records, process release of information requests, ensure documentation compliance, and support clinical coding and data reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and secure inmate health records in electronic and paper formats per BOP policies
  • Process release of information requests in compliance with HIPAA, Privacy Act, and BOP regulations
  • Audit medical records for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Assign ICD-10 and CPT codes for clinical encounters and procedures
  • Compile statistical reports on healthcare utilization and quality metrics
  • Coordinate medical record transfers for inmate movements between facilities
  • Support ACA/NCCHC accreditation documentation
  • Train clinical staff on documentation requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to pass federal background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Correctional or federal healthcare HIM experience
  • CCS or CPC coding certification
