Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine
The Spring Lab in the Department of Behavioral Science and Social Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Health Promotionist/Behavioral Health Coach to provide behavioral counseling and health coaching to participants in an NIH-funded randomized clinical trial through the SMARTer Weight Loss Management Study at Florida State University College of Medicine
Join a dynamic interdisciplinary team conducting research on behavioral risk factors for chronic diseases (such as poor-quality diet, physical inactivity, obesity, and tobacco use). The lab develops, optimizes, and evaluates cutting-edge, technology-supported interventions to improve self-regulation, engage social support, and facilitate healthful behavior change.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized behavioral counseling and health coaching to study participants using evidence-based behavioral weight management strategies. Utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other evidence-based counseling techniques to support behavior change and healthy lifestyle goals. Establish collaborative relationships with participants and tailor coaching strategies to individual needs, barriers, and readiness for change.
Qualifications
Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, public health, health promotion, behavioral science, clinical research, or a closely related field.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, and a proven track record of excellence.
