What You'll Do & Learn (Responsibilities)
As an EHS Specialist, you will be instrumental in maintaining our high safety and environmental standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building a Safety Culture: Deliver engaging new hire EHS orientations and facilitate monthly compliance training sessions, helping to embed a strong safety mindset across our facility.
- Program Management: Take ownership of key programs within our comprehensive Environment & Safety Management System (ESMS), ensuring their effective implementation and continuous improvement.
- Operational Support: Oversee critical programs such as 3rd party audiometric testing and the safety footwear initiative, directly contributing to employee well-being.
- Capability Development: Empower your colleagues by developing their understanding and skills in various safety and environmental aspects, including the application of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) leadership principles.
- Proactive Risk Management: Facilitate frequent EHS self-assessments, identify areas for improvement, and meticulously track corrective action plans through to completion.
- Environmental Stewardship: Support the EHS Manager with essential environmental inspections, reporting, and sustainability initiatives, contributing to our broader environmental goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various business functions to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into all change management processes and contribute to special projects that enhance our overall EHS performance.
- Regulatory Engagement: Provide crucial support during regulatory inspections and assist in addressing any complaints, ensuring our operations meet all legal requirements.
- Incident Analysis & Prevention: Assist in the thorough analysis of significant incidents (e.g., fires, chemical releases, severe injuries) and help implement robust corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence, learning from every event.
- Security Backup: Provide backup support to the EHS Manager on security-related matters as needed, broadening your exposure to facility operations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in safety, health and environment
- 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Learning mindset and exceptional interpersonal, coaching, written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in computer software applications, use of AI, and media technologies
