This one-year, nursing-focused program for seniors provides critical training in patient care, anatomy, and physiology. Students have the opportunity to earn college credit and obtain their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Housed at the Blue Springs Freshman Center, soon to become the Blue Springs Career & Innovation Center, this program allows students to gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations, where they work directly with patients and healthcare professionals.
In the fall semester, students receive comprehensive training in essential skills, including CPR, first aid, infection control, vital signs, and healthcare law. In the spring, students spend over 100 hours in clinical rotations at 6 to 8 facilities in Independence and Blue Springs, collaborating with doctors and nurses while caring for geriatric patients. These hours count toward the requirements for the CNA certification, and the program also opens doors to various healthcare careers, including physical therapy, dentistry, surgery, optometry, and pediatrics. Get ready to make a difference in the healthcare field!
