Overview:

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite work at local school sites approximately one to three days per week, with remaining workdays performed remotely. Mileage reimbursement for work‑related travel to offsite locations is available in accordance with organizational policy.

 

Candidates must be based in the SONOMA COUNTY/SAN FRANCISCO BAY Area to accommodate required onsite visits to local schools.

 

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: Under the supervision of Research Associates and Research Managers, the Health Science & Behavioral Science Research Associate II is responsible for the day‑to‑day implementation of research protocols and data collection at assigned school sites. The Research Associate II will be assigned to up to two schools within Sonoma County Schools, with final assignments based on geographic proximity and student enrollment, and will facilitate the coordination of research visits for study participants.


The Research Associate II will be required to work onsite at schools in Sonoma County approximately one to three days per week and will collaborate with youth and teachers/staff in a mentoring program designed to encourage youth interest in careers in science, medicine, health, and wellness. The role supports a grassroots strategy to improve youth engagement in a school‑based sleep health program.


Responsibilities may include facilitating project implementation at participating schools; providing problem‑solving support related to study procedures; data collection, data entry, and study documentation; and tracking study participants throughout the life of the project. The Research Associate II may assist with scheduling teleconferences and in‑person meetings, organizing and distributing meeting minutes and study communications, ordering supplies, and finalizing and distributing study materials (e.g., brochures). Duties are performed with supervision, feedback, and guidance from principal investigators.

 

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2+ years of qualitative and/or quantitative interviewing experience required.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience using CASI interviewing tools preferred.
  • Experience working with children, youth, and families preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent.
College education in related discipline preferred.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
