Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, and administers a full time health program for supported units, to include occupational health, patient screening, emergency medical care, medical treatment referrals, and associated health education.
  • Provides day-to-day administration, management, and operation of the medical unit on behalf of the unit commander in his/her absence.
  • Reviews the effectiveness and status of unit functions through inspections and visual observations, and reports of finding and suggested courses of resolution to the commander and staff.
  • Reviews and edits reports of physical examinations, medical waiver requests, medical qualification and entitlement determinations, and line of duty determinations,
  • and implements and administers decisions made with respect to these and other command directed programs.
  • Exercises judgment in providing basic life support, first aid, and patient transportation to a medical treatment facility in case of emergencies.
  • Analyzes medical supply and equipment requirements, making recommendations and requesting procurement of items.
  • Oversees the work activities of any assigned lower graded employees and traditional guardsmen assigned to the unit during the work week.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment •(30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working .relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • Irregular and/or overtime {compensatory) hors may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Individual Occupational Requirement:

An Undergraduate Degree in Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), or related fields such as, Primary Care Management. Other completed degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Information Systems Management, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering and Health Management/Health Systems Engineering, Operations Research or other closely-related degree fields.

Or

A Graduate Degree in Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Information Systems Management, or other business-related equivalent

Or

General experience is 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4, that demonstrates the ability to:

  • Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions;
  • Plan and organize work; and
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) necessary to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Find in Qual Standards

Experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:

  • Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
  • Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and
  • Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.

Education

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the line of work.

For the GS-09 level: To qualify on education alone applicant must have one of the following: masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 including qualifying with combination of education and experience.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

Superior Qualifications and Special Needs Pay-setting Authority may be considered for this position. Contact the INNG HR Office for information about this policy. TAG is final approval authority for incentive programs (applicable to federal employees or those with a 90-day break in service). This must be approved prior to your appointment date.
