Type: Federal Salary Range: Per Year Open Period: 9/17/2026 to 10/2/2026 Summary: To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-4: 6 months of general AND 6 months of specialized experience. General Experience: (l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant''s ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. GS-4: Specialize experience examples includes: performing clinical and administrative support duties in a health care setting, such as obtaining and recording patient histories and vital signs; documenting patient information in an electronic health record; scheduling patient appointments and follow-up care; tracking laboratory, diagnostic, and other clinical reports; preparing patients, examination rooms, equipment, and supplies for examinations and procedures; providing basic patient instructions and health education; assisting health care providers with examinations and procedures; recognizing and reporting unusual or abnormal patient findings to a nurse or provider; maintaining infection control and safety practices; and maintaining the security and confidentiality of patient health information. GS-5: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level. Specialize experience examples includes: performing progressively responsible clinical support duties in a health care setting, such as conducting initial patient screening and obtaining and documenting accurate patient histories; obtaining, monitoring, and recording vital signs and other clinical measurements; recognizing and distinguishing normal from abnormal patient findings and promptly reporting significant findings to the appropriate nurse or provider; tracking laboratory, radiology, operative, discharge, and other diagnostic information for follow-up care; preparing and positioning patients for examinations and procedures; assisting providers with clinical procedures; providing basic health education and instructions to patients and families; initiating basic referrals and coordinating follow-up appointments; operating specialized medical equipment; and performing authorized clinical procedures within the scope of practice. Experience may also include assisting with emergency procedures, CPR or other lifesaving measures, infection control, patient safety, and performance improvement activities. OR Substitution of education for experience: GS-4: 2 years of education above high school that includes at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position. GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor''s degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subject directly related to the position.
