Description
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is responsible for administrative/clerical support clinical staff and Providers. This position requires multitasking, great customer service, and communication skills with providers, patients, and staff both internally and externally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Answer incoming telephone calls to the pod as back up to the CA pod point
Schedule patients for all routine appointments, follow ups and ancillary appointments
Complete forms necessary for patient appointments (including printing, assembling, and mailing patient packets)
Maintain up to date pod paperwork (patient education, ABNs, etc.)
Assist with manual faxing and scanning of urgent paperwork as needed
Monitor and prioritize encounters and actions from pod admin bucket
Monitor automated confirmations calls and update EMR (follow up with patients who have not yet confirmed their visits)
Generate and mail patient letters (no show, unable to reach, overdue, out of work/school, lab results for patients not on the portal, etc.)
Resource to the clinical staff and providers with administrative needs
Cleaning of the pod
Monitoring of administrative supplies in the pod
Troubleshooting of telehealth visits with physicians and patients
Obtain outside records as needed (hospital notes, labs, imaging, new patient records, etc.) and communicate directly with HIM
Utilize EPIC read only access to complete real time
Create and tee up TE for outpatient discharges to the direct Cas
Initiate call to pharmacy to confirm if PAs are needed
Reschedule patients for providers out of the office (vacation, sick days, OB, etc.)
Check patients out as capacity allows and follow up with any patient who did not check out from their appointment if necessary (front desk will send TE)
Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors
Ability to work independently and accurately
Ability to work well in busy environment
The estimated compensation range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation plans above and beyond base compensation.
