Healthcare Foundations Instructor – Substitute
Location: Pima Medical Institute - Aurora Campus | On-Site
Position Type: Part-Time, Substitute/PRN (As Needed)
Compensation: $23.73 – $29.66 per hour
Pima Medical Institute is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic substitute instructor to teach foundational healthcare courses at our Aurora campus. We are especially looking for candidates who have completed coursework in Anatomy and Physiology as part of their educational background.

Schedule Options:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Tuesday and/or Thursday: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct students in foundation courses including anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, mathematics, computer basics, and study skills.
- Design and deliver lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Evaluate and grade student coursework and assignments within 72 hours.
- Maintain scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
- Document and discuss academic or behavioral issues with students; alert the Assistant Dean of Faculty and Student Services Coordinator as needed.
- Regularly review and suggest updates to course materials including syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to clinics and medical offices.
- Participate in faculty meetings, advisory board meetings, graduations, and professional development opportunities.
- Complete required documentation for student files, attendance, incident reports, and early alerts.
- Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited program in a relevant field OR minimum 3 years of related occupational experience.
- Minimum 3 years of practical work experience in a healthcare or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of core subjects — particularly Anatomy & Physiology — through post-secondary coursework or work experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in a related subject field.
