Position Title: Program Manager - Healthcare

Department: Workforce Development

Position Purpose:

The Healthcare Program Manager plans, organizes and coordinates healthcare programs for Piedmont Virginia Community College's Workforce Development division and plays a key role in providing high quality workforce development training in high demand healthcare careers with sustainable wages. The position oversees and delivers a portfolio of healthcare training programs to meet the short- and long-term workforce training needs of individuals entering and advancing in the healthcare sector as well as companies seeking to expand.

In collaboration with the Director of FastForward and Open Enrollment Programs, the Program Manager helps to plan and train instructors in program practices and procedures; analyzes, develops, implements, and assesses programs to ensure quality programming; conducts employer outreach and engagement and applies customer service principles and practices when supporting students.

This individual will have knowledge of workforce healthcare education and training development and coordination, and curriculum development. This Program Manager will engage in instructor recruitment and assessment, and reporting, and sales and promotion of their programs.

This position supports the College's commitment to workforce development and access to in-demand healthcare careers and works collaboratively with college staff, employers, and clinical partners to ensure student success and program alignment with industry needs.

This position reports to the Director of FastForward and Open Enrollment Programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise adjunct instructors for all noncredit healthcare programs, and third-party vendor programs.
  • Research, develop and implement new courses and programs for specific industries.
  • Determine demand for new courses by meeting with employers, advisory councils and researching labor market information.
  • Oversee curriculum development.
  • Conduct quality assurance on all programs to ensure compliance with accreditation and governmental requirements.
  • Assess and continuously improve programs for student and employer sponsor satisfaction.
  • Manage and coordinate clinical experiences for students, ensuring students meet site requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate training needs for industry partners.
  • Program Coordinator of the Nurse Assistant programs and liaison with the VBON for Workforce Development Nurse Assistant program.
  • Recruit, hire, support and evaluate faculty and instructors for Workforce Development courses.
  • Promote and market programs within the industry.
  • Content is provided to marketing for print and digital marketing.
  • Workforce Development is represented at trade shows and recruiting events.
  • Relationships with the industry are developed and maintained.
  • May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare program coordination, workforce development, or continuing education program management.
  • Experience supervising or managing instructors, adjunct faculty, or training staff.
  • Proven experience developing or implementing healthcare training programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple programs or projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing data to support program planning, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Evidence of collaboration with faculty, staff, employers, and community partners to ensure program success and alignment with industry needs.
  • Commitment to student success and customer service, demonstrated through responsive and inclusive practices.
  • Ability to apply continuous improvement practices to maintain program quality and relevance.

Additional Considerations:

  • Additional education in a related field.
  • Qualified through the Virginia Board of Nursing for the requirements of Nurse Aide Coordinator.
  • Experience in education, preferably community college, desired.
  • Experience in curriculum development and using a Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas).
  • Working knowledge of the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Experience coordinating clinical rotations and working with employer partners.
  • Understanding of regional healthcare labor market trends and employer needs.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting employer outreach or partnership development.
  • Knowledge of FastForward, WIOA, and other workforce development funding programs.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency.
