Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Heat Treat Operator to join our client’s manufacturing team in West Union, SC.
Responsibilities- Start up, operate, adjust, and shut down equipment throughout the Heat Treat Department.
- Operate furnace lines, conveyors, batch furnaces, shaker furnaces, feeders, and related equipment.
- Perform cold start-ups and weekly start-ups on furnaces and feeders.
- Complete furnace and feeder setups and equipment changeovers while preventing part mixing.
- Set and adjust furnace controllers and feeders according to established procedures.
- Monitor furnace parameters using electronic chart recorders.
- Set and adjust flow meters throughout the shift.
- Perform required Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks and identify parts that are within or outside specification.
- Complete and submit SPC documentation to the Supervisor for review.
- Submit quality samples to the Metrology Lab for testing.
- Load and unload furnaces as needed to support production and quality requirements.
- Respond to and clear equipment alarms in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to maintain part quality and minimize downtime.
- Perform standard and emergency shutdown procedures when required.
- Perform preventive maintenance on furnaces and related equipment.
- Stack totes on skids, complete required paperwork, and move parts to the next operation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, environmental, and operating procedures.
- Support other jobs and responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
Requirements- High School Diploma, GED, or WorkKeys certification.
- Ability to read and complete production and quality documentation.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to learn and use material tracking software, including Oracle.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and working conditions.
- Willingness and ability to complete skills testing when required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in a hot environment with temperatures reaching approximately 130°F.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical production activities throughout the shift.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions.
