ATI is currently seeking a 1st Shift Heat Treat Supervisor to join our facility located in Cudahy, WI. A Heat Treat Supervisor is responsible for leading all pyrometry-related activities within the Heat Treat Department, with primary ownership of compliance to AMS 2750 and all applicable customer and regulatory pyrometry requirements. The position ensures that all thermal processing equipment, instrumentation, and calibration systems are controlled, maintained, and audited to meet aerospace and industrial heat treatment standards.

Position is responsible for supervising hourly CIA (Combustion Instrument Adjuster) employees. Schedules manpower and equipment in the most efficient manner to achieve the quality heat treatment of forged components while meeting customer schedules and minimizing costs.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:

  • Own and ensure full compliance with AMS 2750 requirements, including furnace classification, instrumentation types, calibration intervals, Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS), and System Accuracy Tests (SAT).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site pyrometry procedures, work instructions, and training programs aligned with AMS 2750 and customer specifications.
  • Ensure all thermocouples, instrumentation, controllers, and recording devices are properly calibrated, identified, traceable, and maintained within required tolerances.
  • Coordinate and execute Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS) and System Accuracy Tests (SAT), including scheduling, data review, approval, and resolution of non-conformances.
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready documentation for all pyrometry activities, including calibration records, TUS/SAT reports, and furnace qualification records.
  • Serve as a point of contact for pyrometry-related customer, NADCAP, and internal audits.
  • Maintain and train a workforce to perform heat treat and pyrometry-related activities consistent with quality and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate scheduling of manpower, equipment, and furnace availability to meet production requirements while maintaining pyrometry compliance.
  • Assist in identifying process improvements and capital expenditures that improve pyrometry systems, reduce costs, and enhance quality and reliability.
  • Ensure the highest level of safety and housekeeping through adherence to ATI safety programs and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Ensure consistent application of labor agreements and company policies, supporting effective labor/management relations.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a working knowledge of metallurgy as applied to heat treating, typically gained by college level courses or related experience. Supervisory skills, including thorough knowledge of applicable labor contract provisions, ISO 9002/AS9100A, and communication skills, are necessary but may be acquired while in this position. Position requires at least 2 years experience in all functions of Heat Treat. Position requires a high school diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
