Heavy-Capacity Forklift Operator

Location: Broussard, LA
Pay: $17 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.–4:45 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break

Position Summary

The Heavy-Capacity Forklift Operator will primarily operate sit-down forklifts ranging from 5,000- to 30,000-pound capacity. This position is also responsible for packing, shipping, and receiving drilling equipment, maintaining warehouse and yard areas, assisting with inventory, and performing routine equipment maintenance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Pack, ship, and receive drilling equipment.
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments safely and efficiently.
• Operate sit-down forklifts ranging from 5,000- to 30,000-pound capacity.
• Perform required preventive-maintenance routines on equipment.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of forklifts and the yard truck.
• Maintain the yard storage area and employee parking area.
• Assist with maintaining the computerized inventory-control system.
• Assist with physical inventory of the Broussard warehouse.
• Perform general warehouse maintenance and housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current forklift certification meeting OSHA Powered Industrial Truck requirements (29 CFR 1910.178) required.
• Ability to communicate and interact professionally with all levels of management.
• Ability to read documents and computer screens, operate a keyboard, and manage electronic and paper files.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, lift, climb, see, and hear as required to perform job duties.
• Must be able to sit at a desk or operate equipment for extended periods.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying or inclement weather when loading and unloading equipment.
• Must be able to load, unload, and organize equipment safely and efficiently.
