Lead the Delivery of Complex Bridge and Highway Projects

Picture your week: you kick off Monday aligning field supervision, engineers, and subcontractors around the week’s milestones; midweek, you’re reviewing the latest critical path updates and resource plans; by Friday, you’re walking the site to verify quality, safety, and environmental standards while preparing a concise status briefing for leadership. As the primary point of contact, you keep owners, designers, vendors, and internal teams moving in the same direction—on time, on budget, and to spec.

What You’ll Own

  • End-to-end oversight of heavy highway and civil works—from preconstruction planning through closeout—meeting schedule, cost, safety, and quality targets.
  • Development and maintenance of robust project schedules (including critical path and resource allocation) to drive timely completion.
  • Leadership of multidisciplinary teams—field leaders, engineers, and subcontractors—ensuring alignment to project goals.
  • Active risk management: anticipate constraints, resolve issues early, and keep the work uninterrupted.
  • Implementation and enforcement of jobsite safety, quality control, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Contract administration: uphold contractual obligations and ensure all parties remain compliant.
  • Timely handling of change events—prepare, negotiate, and process change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Financial stewardship: track costs, forecast performance, and protect profitability.
  • Permitting and compliance: secure required permits and verify subcontractor insurance and documentation.
  • Procurement leadership: align materials, equipment, and specialty services with the schedule.
  • People development: supervise, mentor, and coach; provide training, feedback, and formal evaluations.
  • Client and stakeholder management: serve as the liaison to owners, engineers, vendors, and public agencies; build durable relationships.
  • Meeting facilitation: organize, lead, and document project meetings to keep all stakeholders coordinated.
  • Progress reporting: prepare and submit monthly status updates, highlighting accomplishments, KPIs, and risks.
  • Closeout excellence: manage final completion, punch lists, documentation (as-builts, warranties), and handover approvals.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive construction experience—ideally with a GC delivering large heavy highway and civil projects.
  • Proven delivery across the full project lifecycle, from precon through final acceptance.
  • Strong negotiator with a track record of building relationships with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Leadership depth with 5+ years supervising teams and developing talent.
  • Calm under pressure—able to juggle competing priorities while maintaining precision and detail.
  • Fluency with project management platforms, scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project), and financial reporting systems.
  • Expertise in heavy civil and roadway methods: grading, drainage, structures, paving; roadway and structures experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of VDOT requirements, environmental compliance, and permitting processes.
  • A passion for construction and a drive to elevate team and company performance.

Your Impact

Bring your leadership to complex bridge and highway projects that serve the public for decades. You’ll be the driving force that turns plans into enduring infrastructure—safely, efficiently, and profitably.
