We are searching for an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to provide onsite leadership for public works, wet utility, and civil infrastructure projects throughout Southern California. The Superintendent will direct field operations, coordinate subcontractors and self-perform crews, maintain safety and quality standards, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Typical projects include water, wastewater, sewer, storm drain, pipeline, utility, and other municipal infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations on heavy civil, public works, and wet utility construction projects.
- Direct subcontractors, foremen, and self-perform crews in the installation of water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure systems.
- Review drawings, specifications, utility plans, permits, and project requirements to plan field execution.
- Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, traffic control, inspections, and utility shutdowns as required.
- Manage construction sequencing and maintain efficient workflow across multiple crews and trades.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, production tracking, timekeeping records, and field documentation.
- Draft and support RFIs, field clarifications, and change documentation.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Track progress against schedule, quantities installed, and percent-complete reporting.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings and utility records.
- Coordinate agency inspections, testing, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules and recovery plans.
- Monitor field productivity, production rates, and budget performance.
- Represent the company professionally with owners, engineers, inspectors, agencies, and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Superintendent, General Foreman, or construction field leadership experience.
- Public works construction experience required.
- Experience with water, wastewater, sewer, storm drain, pipeline, treatment plant, pump station, or related civil infrastructure projects strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, shoring, utility installation, grading, and civil construction operations.
- Ability to lead multiple crews and coordinate multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
- Experience working in union environments preferred.
- Experience managing self-performed scopes of work preferred.
- Working knowledge of public agency inspection processes and municipal construction standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Experience with Procore and Bluebeam preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and professional jobsite standards.
- Valid driver license and willingness to work onsite throughout Southern California.
