    Job Description

    A Day in the Life

You roll into the shop, open a new work order in Equipment360, and begin with a PM2 on a skid steer. A quick scan with Caterpillar ET confirms the engine is healthy, but a sensor flag leads you to a loose connection in the lighting system. Before lunch, you replace a set of hydraulic hoses, bleed the system, and verify flow. After a call from Dispatch, you load up for a field service visit where an excavator needs an alternator swap and AC recharge. You coordinate with the Foreman on-site, complete the repair, update parts usage and labor time, and head back to the shop to tidy tools and prep for tomorrow’s PM5.

    Impact You’ll Make

    • Diagnose and repair fleet trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment components including brakes, hydraulic hoses, clutches, AC systems, alternators, and water pumps.
    • Execute preventive maintenance (PM1–PM5) and inspections with precise documentation in work orders.
    • Use Caterpillar ET, Snap-On tools, OEM software, and multimeters to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues.
    • Service loaders, skid steers, excavators, manlifts, and fleet trucks to keep them field-ready.
    • Identify faults in hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and flow components; perform repairs and adjustments.
    • Install GPS units, lighting, and other electrical components to spec.
    • Operate forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment safely to support maintenance tasks.
    • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout, hot work, confined space, and OSHA safety protocols every time.
    • Maintain shop organization, tools, and spare parts for rapid response and uptime.
    • Respond to field service calls and coordinate repairs with Foremen, Dispatch, and Operators.
    • Accurately record repair data, parts usage, and labor in Equipment360 or designated systems.
    • Work with vendors for ordering, returns, and warranty coordination.
    • Take on additional duties as assigned to support evolving business needs.

    What You Bring

    • 3–7 years of experience in heavy equipment and fleet repair, or equivalent technical training.
    • Hands-on proficiency with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
    • Comfort using OEM diagnostic software, Caterpillar ET, Snap-On, and multimeters.
    • Ability to interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.
    • Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
    • Strong safety mindset and strict adherence to established protocols.
    • Self-directed teammate who can pivot with changing priorities.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Physical Requirements

Work occurs in shop and outdoor settings year-round, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and harsh weather. You’ll stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods. Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs. with assistance while handling tools, parts, and equipment. You must tolerate dust, noise, vibration, and exposure to fuels, lubricants, and other shop chemicals.

    Benefits and Support

    • Competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage
    • Voluntary benefits including life, accident, critical illness, and pet insurance
    • 401(k) retirement plan
    • Quarterly bonus
    • Paid Time Off (PTO), and paid holidays
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness resources
    • Tuition reimbursement and continuing education support
    • Scholarship program for dependents of eligible employees
    • Company events, community engagement opportunities, and quarterly State of the Company meetings
