What you’ll do
- Service gasoline and diesel buses—from oil changes and minor fixes to complete vehicle service.
- Find and fix mechanical issues; keep a disciplined preventive maintenance cadence.
- Overhaul engines and transmissions (both major and minor).
- Maintain braking systems, air compressors, fuel/ignition components, HVAC units, and wheelchair lifts.
- Diagnose and service vehicle A/C systems.
- Perform school bus inspections/repairs in line with DOT standards.
- Accurately log labor hours and materials.
Must-haves
- Experience with medium-duty buses; International Truck/Bus experience is a plus.
- Your own tools.
- Knowledge of pupil transportation regulations, including IDOT inspections.
- Strong written and verbal communication with customers and coworkers.
- Ability to thrive under deadlines while delivering excellent service.
- Work independently and follow through to completion.
Nice-to-haves
- CDL Class B with air brake endorsement.
- A/C Certification.

- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Reliable attendance.
- Comfort communicating on the phone.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
