Minimum Requirements
CDL Class B license valid DOT medical card and acceptable driving record.
Mechanic certification from an accredited program. ASE diesel mechanic or equivalent
4 years experience working on heavy equipment
Light welding experience
GED andor equivalent combination of experience
Must become a member of the ILWU local 142
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities
General overhauls of plant equipment such as loaders crushers mixer and quarry trucks forklifts graders skid loaders compressors rebuilds equipment components and trouble shoots.
Diagnoses malfunctions and based on findings repairs adjusts and maintains equipment.
May perform the duties of other mechanics or welder.
Uses hand and power tools common to their trade such as wrenches hammers hoists drills grinders feeler gauges indicators component testing equipment etc.
Drives pick-up trucks and road tests equipment as necessary in accordance with DOT regulations. Requires a CDL B License.
Performs established periodic P.M. checks as required.
Services cleans oils and lubes equipment plant compressor pumps and meters.
Follows established procedures in preparing necessary reports requisitions etc.
Assists other tradesmen with repairs
Oversee the work of trades helpers and assist other mechanics and tradesmen where assistance may be needed
Performs night shift work and other related duties as required.
Must have a working knowledge in repair parts and operation of above equipment.
Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions processes and behaviors.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Independently working to assess and repair equipment appropriately.
