Minimum Requirements
- Light welding experience
- GED and/or equivalent combination of experience
- Must become a member of the ILWU local 142
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Preferred Requirements
- Mechanic certification from an accredited program. (ASE diesel mechanic or equivalent)
- CDL Class B license, valid DOT medical card and acceptable driving record
- 4+ years experience working on heavy equipment
Duties and Responsibilities
- General overhauls of plant equipment such as crushers, screens, feeders and batching plants; rebuilds equipment components and trouble shoots.
- Diagnose malfunctions and based on findings repairs, adjusts, and maintains equipment.
- May perform the duties of other mechanics or welder.
- Uses hand and power tools common to their trade such as wrenches, hammers, hoists, drills, grinders, feeler gauges, indicators, component testing equipment, etc.
- Drives pickup and tests equipment as necessary.
- Performs established periodic P.M. checks as required.
- Services (cleans, oils, and lubes) equipment, plant compressor, pumps and meters.
- Follows established procedures in preparing necessary reports, requisitions, etc.
- Assists other tradesmen with repairs
- Oversees the work of trades helpers, other mechanics or welders, and other tradesmen where their assistance is needed.
- Performs night shift work and other related duties as required.
- Must have a working knowledge in repair, parts and operation of above equipment.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Independently working to assess and repair equipment appropriately.
