What You Will Do (Responsibilities):
- Diagnose problems and make repairs to heavy equipment, cranes, loaders, dozers, etc…
- Installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing primarily heavy equipment related to the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage of bulk materials.
- Dismantle and repair heavy equipment including diesel and gas engines, electric motors and generators, hydraulic and pneumatic attachments, control systems, fuel and brake systems, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical engines, vehicles, and equipment used in bulk handling operations.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment and make adjustments.
- Operate a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc…), and electric meters.
- Perform work from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Participate in and promote safety and environmental programs.
- Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide emergency response to minimize terminal down time and respond to emergencies within a reasonable response time.
- Check repairs to make sure the unit is in an "Operational Condition".
- Responsible for keeping a high standard of quality while fulfilling the duties of the position
- General upkeep and service of equipment including, but not limited to, greasing, fueling, checking fluid levels, and proper completion of daily inspection report.
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Need (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience working on all types of equipment specifically: dozers, wheel loader, fork trucks, and excavators.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Previous experience in an industrial or bulk handling facility preferred.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from the supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
- Must possess the physical and mental dexterity to manipulate pedals, levers, and buttons to control the speed and direction of the equipment.
- Must be able to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to respond to call outs.
- Must be able to work long hours, in excess of 12 hours, when required.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Willing and able to work at heights.
- Able to negotiate uneven surfaces.
- Able to carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pass company drug screen, background check, and any other applicable tests and clearances.
- Must be able to attain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Requires work in all types of weather conditions.
Experience
1 - 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience (Heavy Equipment experience a plus).
