The Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Combat Systems, Lead/Technical Inspector analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, Bulldozers, Bradley’s, Abrams tanks, Paladins, pumps, compressors, pneumatic tools, and tracked/wheeled vehicles. This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. May direct workers engage in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust and maintain machinery, such as Abrams, Bradley’s and Paladins. This Mechanic must be specialized through education and experience in a military combat system which would include Bradley’s, Tanks or Paladins hull and turret operations.

Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.
