Mechanic-Heavy Equipment "WTRS" Fort Irwin, CA
This position is full time for the National Training Center Training Support Contract (NTCTSC) at the National Training Center (NTC). NTCTSC brings to bear the full capabilities of many of the world's best systems integration and engineering companies in the technical integration of live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training support.
The NTCTSC is located at Fort Irwin, CA in the Mojave Desert approximately forty miles northeast of Barstow, CA. NTCTSC operations support the NTC mission to provide realistic joint and combined arms training and is focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st Century Battlefield.
V2X has a requirement for a Mechanic, Heavy Equipment with experience in heavy equipment repair. The Mechanic, Heavy Equipment will maintain the maintenance of all Government Furnished and Contractor Acquired heavy equipment for V2x and its subcontractors for the Training Support Contract at Fort Irwin.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
.•Preventative Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and inspectionsto prevent breakdowns.
.•Welding and Fabricating: Performing minor welding and brazing work, as well as fabricating or installing custom equipment.
.•Traveling: May be required to travel to worksites to repair large equipment.•Following blueprints and manuals: Reading and understanding operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Required Skills:
.•Must be able to work in a team environment
.•Proficient in computer skills needed to complete repairs and diagnostics on heavy equipment
.•Applicant may be required to travel and will be required to work in compliance with OSHA and V2X safety policies and procedures.
.•Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications
Qualifications/ Skills:
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Diagnostic Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex issues related to heavy equipment.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various environments.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with operators and other mechanics.
Education:
Highschool diploma or equivalent
