Position Objective
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs skilled mechanical and maintenance work on heavy trucks and equipment, including vacuum trucks, tractors, and trailers. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on shop support to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
Job Responsibilities - Diagnose and repair heavy trucks and equipment, including performing scheduled preventative maintenance
- Complete annual inspections on trucks and trailers
- Conduct inspections and run-ups for new and sale trucks
- Operate and maintain shop equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general shop needs
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems required
- Strong experience in the Electric Utility industry preferred
- Certification as a Mobile Crane Inspector preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Must have a complete set of hand tools
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds infrequently
- Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, bend, and climb short ladders repeatedly
- Experience operating and maintaining machinery and equipment
