Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Diesel Trucks & Construction Equipment

Location: Moorhead, MN

Northwest Excavating is seeking a mid-level to experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to service and maintain our fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. This position is ideal for a self-motivated technician who can work independently in both shop and field environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Identify repair needs and communicate findings with management
• Order and manage parts, tools, and repair supplies as needed
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and repair logs
• Travel to local job sites for field repairs when required
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Requirements

• Experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or truck technician
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• CDL preferred but not required
• Heavy equipment operation experience is a plus
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Compensation & Benefits

• $30 – $40 per hour depending on experience
