    Description

    Overview

    Essential Functions:

    • Repairs, overhauls, and maintains all gasoline and diesel powered engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and other mechanical equipment on cars, vans, pickup trucks, light trucks, up through and including class eight trucks, heavy construction equipment, specialized sewer cleaning equipment,compressors, etc.
    • Performs preventative maintenance and minor body work as assigned; tests and repairs electrical systems.
    • Repairs and overhauls hydraulic systems.
    • Changes and repairs tires as assigned.
    • Operates tow truck, service truck and tire truck to bring in disabled vehicles to the garage or makes emergency repairs in the field.
    • Repairs vehicles and equipment in the field in all types of weather conditions; interfaces with CMMS system.
    • Creates and updates computer generated work orders; works standby for emergency vehicle and equipment repairs on off-shifts..

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications

    Training and Experience:

    Graduation from high school, equivalent or vocational school program in automotive mechanics, and five years
    of progressively responsible experience in the field of automotive and heavy equipment repair.

    Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, tools and methods of automotive, truck, and heavyequipment repairs.
    • Considerable knowledge of the design and adjustment of a variety of automotive, truck, and construction equipment.
    • Skill in the repair of automotive, truck, and construction equipment; ability to utilize specialized automotive test equipment.
    • Skill in trouble shooting and repair of automotive computerized electronic control systems.
    • Ability to drive cars and heavy duty trucks and equipment.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to create and update computer generated work orders.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

    Must possess a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsement issued by
    the state in which the employee resides.

    Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety
    sensitive
    , and candidate must pass a D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are
    subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.

    Must possess Air Conditioning Recovery Certification.

    Must possess Missouri State Inspection Certification.

    Must possess required tools to perform the duties noted above.
